XS MATRIX SECURITY SOLUTIONS Kft. manufactures TheFence a cloud-based Identity Governance platform, which is a modularly built, next generation identity governance and administration (IGA) platform tailored for organizations of all sizes (SMEs & large enterprises).
This role is not a ticket-factory backend job. We are working against objectives, milestones not against tickets. We welcome any ideas, innovations and celebrate self-driven activities improving our solutions.
The Mission
Our platform is entering a major architectural evolution. We are redesigning significant parts of the backend and gradually moving toward a more event-driven architecture.
This transition will involve working on:
- distributed workflows
- eventual consistency
- asynchronous processing
- service decoupling
- data integrity across services
- performance and database optimization
The work ahead is complex and challenging, but also a great opportunity to shape the system architecture and grow technically.
We are currently hiring multiple, backend engineers who want to contribute to this journey.
What You Will Work On
You will design and implement backend services that power our platform, including:
- REST APIs built with .NET
- Decoupled, asynchronous background services
- Distributed workflows
- Event-driven system components
- Cloud-native services running on AWS (mostly)
This is not purely an implementation role. You are expected to participate in architecture discussions, design decisions, and system evolution.
Must-Have Skills
- Strong experience with C# and .NET
- Experience building ASP.NET web applications
- Experience with asynchronous programming
- Experience designing maintainable backend architectures
- Experience implementing background services / job processing
- Ability to reason about system behavior, edge cases, and failure scenarios
Highly Preferred
- Working experience with AI assistants (CoPilot, Codex, Claude, etc.)
- Strong SQL knowledge
- raw SQL queries
- stored procedures
- transaction handling
- isolation levels
- indexing and performance optimization
- Experience using Dapper and/or Entity Framework
- Experience designing or working with event-driven systems
Nice-to-Have
- Angular / TypeScript familiarity
- Experience using REST API tools (Postman, Insomnia, etc.)
- Experience with AWS cloud services (Cognito, S3, ECS / EC2, Lambda, Bedrock)
- Interest or experience with AI-related services such as AWS Bedrock
- Hands on experience with Agentic solutions
What Kind of Engineer Thrives Here
We value engineers who:
- are self-driven and proactive
- are comfortable challenging the status quo
- propose conceptual and architectural improvements
- communicate clearly and confidently
- can explain technical decisions and trade-offs
- are comfortable interacting with technical leadership or management
- can push back on unrealistic timelines or risky design choices
Strong communication and reasoning skills are just as important as coding ability.
Why This Role Is Interesting
You will have the opportunity to:
- contribute to a major backend architecture redesign
- work with event-driven systems
- influence technical decisions
- build systems in AWS cloud infrastructure
- tackle complex engineering problems
- learn deeply about distributed system design
If you enjoy understanding systems deeply, solving non-trivial problems and shaping architecture, we would love to hear from you.
Send your application to hello@thefence.net and let’s see what you’d deploy first.
